Michael P. Daniels is Senior Consultant to MAK Advisors LLC. Mr. Daniels also is President of MPD Consultants LLC and has been managing partner and practice group leader at major international law firms in Washington, DC. Mr. Daniels specializes in international trade policy and regulation and has represented importing and retailing interests, and foreign exporters.
Mr. Daniels has had extensive experience with WTO/GATT affairs, having represented a number of government and private interests in trade negotiations and in dispute settlement proceedings before the WTO/GATT. Mr. Daniels has extensive experience in legislative matters, having participated in every major legislative battle on trade matters since the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. He played an active role in the controversies over Most Favored Nation for China and other China-related legislation and has been directly involved in the China and Saudi Arabia WTO accession processes. He has represented clients in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Central America, and South America.
Mr. Daniels received his J.D. in 1952 and B.A. in 1949 from the University of Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. He was admitted to the bar of the District of Columbia in 1955. In 1958 he was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and studied for a year in the Law Department of Tokyo University.
